Today, they serve landscapers, municipalities, homeowners, retailers and commercial clients across Canada, offering drought-tolerant sod, grass seed, fertilizer, and innovative green cover solutions through direct sales, distributors, and online channels.

Looking ahead, Manderley is focused on expanding its market presence, leveraging data-driven production strategies, and reinforcing its position as the leading sod supplier in key Canadian markets.

Manderley is part of the Market Maker Agriculture (“MMAG”) portfolio, alongside two other companies.

THE OPPORTUNITY

MMAG is working with Manderley’s Advisory Committee Chair to recruit two (2) independent committee members to be appointed in June 2025.  Candidates may be Canadian or American citizens with relevant industry expertise. The current Advisory Committee consists of a single Chair, a member of MMAG’s management.

This initiative reflects MMAG’s commitment to seek independent advisors who can provide industry expertise, strategic insight and valuable relationships to support Manderley’s continued success. Together, the Advisory Committee and MMAG’s leadership will shape Manderley’s strategic direction, guide expansion initiatives, and drive long term sustainable growth.  

Each Advisory Committee member will be expected to develop a strong understanding of Manderley’s operations, industry dynamics, and competitive landscape, while staying informed of regulatory, legislative, and business trends that may impact the company.

Candidates should possess:

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERTISE

  • Familiarity with the sod industry or adjacent sectors such as agribusiness, landscaping, or turf management.
  • Experience in managing operations in organizations with seasonal fluctuations in demand and production cycles.
  • Senior executive-level experience, with strong strategic vision, financial acumen, and industry sensibility.
  • Intellectual and emotional intelligence, demonstrating fairness, openness, and impartial decision-making.
  • The ability to leverage professional connections and expertise to support Manderley’s market expansion.

  • Operational automation and efficiency improvements

GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE & MEETINGS

While not holding formal governance authority, the Advisory Committee plays a key role in guiding strategy, providing market insights, and influencing major business decisions in collaboration with Market Maker leadership.

The Committee will meet quarterly via video conference. Committee members must have sufficient time to attend regularly scheduled meetings as well as periodic meetings which will be scheduled on an as needed basis to support crucial strategic initiatives and decisions as they arise. Committee members are expected to prepare for meetings in advance including staying current on the industry. Meeting materials for quarterly meetings are typically circulated 3-5 business days before each meeting.

Committee Terms: No fixed term; members are appointed bi-annually. A minimum two-year commitment is expected.

Compensation: $8,000 CDN annually.

Corporate calendar: the fiscal year ends December 31.
